When optical research progresses…
Essilor explores every opportunity to advance optical research and maintain a broad vision of the profession. Establishing partnerships with outside laboratories and universities, joint scientific projects have become a priority. In addition to these initiatives, Essilor has its own research program.
This open approach has led Essilor to create two joint ventures: one with PPG in the United States – the Transitions JV – and the other with Nikon, in Japan – the Nikon-Essilor JV.
In the same spirit, four Research and Development laboratories were created in partnership with leading international universities: University of Montreal in Canada, University of Shanghai in China, and the CNRS and CEA-Leti in France.
In addition, in the Vision Institute itself, the Descartes Consortium includes Essilor, Visiotact, MicroOLED, Fovea Pharmaceuticals and the CNRS. This work group mostly focuses on optical research in low vision.
All of these partnerships help to promote the broad vision that Essilor strives to maintain in its profession.
